Jim Corbett is India's first national park that was established in 1936. It was first known as the Hailey National Park named after William Malcolm Hailey during the British rule. Later after India’s independence, it was renamed Corbett National Park to honor Jim Corbett, a naturalist-cum-hunter who was a major role in its establishment. The park is spread in a total area of more than 520.8 km2 that consists of 73 percent forest land and 10% grassland. The zone experiences heavy rainfall in the months of July till September. Irrespective of the fact that the nights here in Corbett are bitterly cold throughout winter season, the days are quite bright and sunny. Trees like Sal, Haldu, Rohini, Peepal, and Mango grow in the deciduous forests. You can spot animals including spotted deer, lizards, elephants, tigers, Mongoose, Langurs, Nilgai, and others during jungle safari.
